The Worst News for Anime, Manga, and Light Novel Fans – The End of Everything We Love

Sony has been on a conquest in the last half decade on acquiring Funimation, Crunchyroll, Rightstuf, Aniplex, and now Kadokawa. If this buyout goes through, then Sony will effectively not just own distribution of Anime, Manga, Light Novels, and Merchandize in Western Countries, but own major animation studios like Doga Kobo that animates Oshi no Ko. That’s not even counting for the game studios Kadokawa owns like From Software that owns Dark Souls and Elden Ring or Spike Chunsoft that recently made Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. This is a straight up monopoly that I don’t think will be stopped.
