Transcript Highlights: I’m here to give you a detailed tour and my honest, unbiased review of monday.com: its platform, pricing, alternatives & more. I’m going to tell you what’s great, could be better, and our ultimate monday.com review score.
What does monday.com do? monday helps teams plan and execute projects. It’s a digital space for managing work, tracking progress, and collecting information to help teams communicate.
monday.com’s core offering is work management platform for building and automating processes. monday has 4 additional key products: monday sales CRM, monday marketer, monday projects, and monday dev. monday sales CRM manages sales cycles, capturing leads, etc. monday marketer manages marketing and creative campaigns. monday projects is used for project management, and monday dev plans sprints, tracks bugs, and manages roadmaps.
The default subscription is their work management platform. You can purchase licenses for other products as needed. You’ll find all the capabilities you’d expect from a project management solution. These include creating and assigning tasks, allocating resources, tracking budgets and costs, time tracking, monitoring progress with dashboards, collaboration and more. The top 3 monday.com benefits are as follows:
Benefit #1: Collaboration. monday.com is best in class. It eliminates unruly email threads and unnecessary meetings. All comms are centralized making collaboration easy across teams.
Benefit #2: Customization. monday.com has 120+ project templates
Benefit #3: Support and integrations. monday provides 24/7 support; plus, it integrates with more than 40 platforms.
Who is monday icon best suited for? So at smaller companies, monday is usually used by business owners themselves or grassroots individuals trying to organize the chaos of a growing team at mid-to-large companies. It’s used by dedicated project managers, product managers, directors and others responsible for cross-functional initiatives. monday.com is actually pretty agnostic. It works for private and public companies, nonprofits, governments, you name it. So monday says its use cases span pretty much all teams, from marketing and sales to development, operations, IT, HR and beyond.
I personally believe monday isn’t for businesses that aren’t committed to a culture of project management or don’t have resources that can own it. Gere are scenarios in which monday may not be a perfect fit: very small business use cases. monday’s pricing can be expensive for small businesses, especially those who won’t use all their seats. It has pricing in batches of users up to a certain number, which may lead to paying for users that aren’t required.
Businesses requiring self-hosted solutions shouldn’t opt for monday.com, as it doesn’t provide self hosting options and specific exporting requirements. Those requiring certain options for exporting data, for example HTML, may be disappointed with that lack of functionality.
monday.com’s stand out capabilities include:
#1. Beautiful user interface
#2. Built-in time tracking
#3. Native mobile apps for iOS/Android
#4. Good reporting
#5. Customization and automation
#6. Third party integrations
#7. Customer support
Top cons:
#1. No built-in chat
#2. Lacks some of the resource management and scheduling options of some competitors
#3. Limited options for exporting data
#4. Not available as a self-hosted solution (nor offers offline capabilities)
#5. Not fully baked into Gmail
#6. Expensive cost, especially for SMB
#7. Free plan only allows 2 seats per account
Overall, monday is fantastic because it provides PM, marketing, CRM and other capabilities.
Our analyst score for monday.com is 88%. As far as project management goes, our monday.com review observes them near the top of the pack.
